The Amsterdam Food Hotspot: Corner Bakery

Whenever I'm on the hunt for a good brunch spot I make sure to keep my eye on Instagram. I find this is the best way to see where people eat and when a name pops up more than once you know it's the place to be. Corner Bakery in Amsterdam is a place that kept creeping up in my feed and the photos of delicious sandwiches, pancakes and froot loop shakes made me kind of excited as well: I just had to try it!

On a Friday, a friend and I decided to do a food and Instagram day. We took photos of each other’s outfits and of the food we ate of course. Our first stop was Corner Bakery. We went around 11:30AM and it wasn't busy at all. Twenty minutes later the whole place was packed and we were so lucky that we were able to grab a good seat. Whilst sipping on my chai latte I took a look around the place. It's quite small and very popular amongst locals. Definitely a place where I would come a lot for Sunday brunch.

The menu was really good. Acai bowls, pancakes, eggs, sandwiches, salads, you name it. I'm definitely more a brunch kind of person and even though French toast and pancakes are my go-to pick I went for a sandwich, which in the end was a very good choice. It was full of bacon and avocado and you know that is a combination I can't resist. It came in this cute basket that is totally Instagrammable and we both demolished our sandwiches because it was that good.

Next time I'm definitely ordering French toast. Oh yes, there will be a next time, because once I find a hidden gem like this I keep coming back!

The Kylie Jenner Lip Kit Haul

Liquid lipsticks are my favourite thing right now. I got one from Kat von D and I have to say that one is the bomb dot com. It didn't take long before my eye fell on Kylie Jenner’s lip products. I always loved the nude colour she had on and when she came with her own line I knew some of them had to be mine.

About five weeks ago I decided to place my order and within two weeks the Lip Kits arrived. I was on holiday in Greece at the time so I had to wait a little bit longer before I could try them out. I also had to pay custom fees which were about 25 euros, so I wasn't very happy about that, but that's just the price you pay when ordering from the US.

I ordered the Ginger Lip Kit and two individual liquid lipsticks: Dolce K and Candy K. I was super excited when I opened the box and I still get really happy when I apply them on my lips. Ginger is definitely my favourite out of the bunch. It's the perfect autumn colour and doesn't feel dry at all. Dolce K and Candy K are lovely too and apply like a dream.

Some people hate them, some people love them and I am definitely part of the last team. They are a bit overpriced, but as someone who loves makeup I don't mind that much. Complete reviews of these babies will go up very soon. So keep your eyes out for that!

The London Haul 2016 Take Two

A while back I talked about my London & Brighton trip and now I finally uploaded a video with all the stuff I bought. It's not as much as I normally buy, which to be honest, is way too much anyways. It still surprises me that I never have to pay for extra baggage, because that's honestly how much I pick up there.

It's a bit late, but I finally sorted my editing problems out and I am back on track. There are also two more hauls on the way, so get ready for some serious shopping cravings. For now I really hope you enjoy watching this vid and don't forget to subscribe to see when I upload a new video!

The Faux Fur Leopard Coat

When all you want to do is stay in bed with a hot cuppa tea and a good book you know it's time for you winter wardrobe. For me this contains of chunky jumpers, velvet dresses and a snuggly coat. Last year, I was quite happy to find three winter coats on a flea market. I am normally really fussy about coats so I was over the moon when I finally found some good ones. And the price helped quite a bit too haha.

Now this winter time I didn't have my hopes up high. I already have a lot of lovely coats in my closet and I really didn't need another one. That's when I spotted this coat in Topshop. Since I work there I know exactly what is new and can snatch it away as soon as it’s in the store. That also happened with this coat. I saw it, tried it on and had to make the purchase. I have to say I'm quite happy I did. Leopard is a huge trend this A/W season and I see so many people rocking this style.

It was a big buy (€125), but it was all worth it. The coat is as soft as a teddy bear and I have noticed that I stroke myself sometimes. I know, I know, a bit weird, but with a coat as soft as this one you would probably do the same. I like the print since it's not your usual leopard print. Normally the brown colour is way deeper and warm. This on the other hand is light and a bit more cool-toned.

I definitely have a crush on leopard print and I can't wait to get more items with that funky edge. We have some amazing bags in as well that would totally match my coat. Or maybe I'll just wait for the winter sale, because I know there will probably be some lovely items for grabs there.

The Best American Pancake Recipe

The way I see it, breakfast foods are the best because you get all the good stuff: French toast, porridge, scrambled eggs and…. pancakes! Here we usually eat a crêpe style pancake, but I love a fluffy stack that is drenched in maple syrup.

Tanya Burr's baking book has some lovely recipes -check my other recipe posts of her book here- and when I saw the Jamie Oliver inspired recipe is knew that I had to recreate it myself. These pancakes are so fluffy and delicious. I am even dreaming of them right now!

What do you need?
3 large eggs
115g plain flower
1 teaspoon of baking powder
140ml milk
Pinch of salt
A bit of butter

To serve:
Maple syrup
Berries
Butter

First, separate the eggs between two bowls. Add the flour, baking powder and milk to the bowl with the yolks and mix until you get a smooth, thick batter.

Add salt to the bowl with the egg whites and mix until you get soft, white peaks. It can take a while especially if you do it by hand, but it will really make the pancakes extra fluffy.

Fold the fluffy whites gently into the batter and mix it all well. Then heat a frying pan with a bit of butter and pour some batter into the frying pan. I used a small deep-bowled spoon to do this. Just make sure that the size of the pancakes are the same. Wait until air bubbles rise to the surface and flip it over. When your pancakes are golden brown and firm they are perfect. Repeat these steps until you have used up all the batter.

Serve the pancakes with maple syrup, berries and a tiny bit of butter. Ooh and I always keep the syrup on the side in case I want more, because who doesn't?
